The current abortion ban in Wisconsin is not only dangerous but deadly, according to OB/GYN physicians. The legislation, which bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, is particularly concerning for pregnant individuals who may not even know they are pregnant at such an early stage.
The law makes no exception for cases of rape or incest, leaving victims without a choice in a situation that is already traumatizing. Moreover, the law disproportionately affects low-income individuals and people of color, who may not have the resources to travel to other states for abortions.
The ban also ignores the fact that many pregnancies have medical complications that require intervention, which could become life-threatening without access to safe and legal abortion care.
As healthcare providers, OB/GYNs are committed to providing their patients with the best possible care. The current abortion ban in Wisconsin not only hinders their ability to provide comprehensive care but also puts their patients’ lives at risk. The law is dangerous and must be repealed to ensure access to safe and legal abortion care for all individuals.

The Wisconsin Health & Educational Facilities Authority (WHEFA) plays a crucial role in facilitating tax-exempt financing for nonprofit organizations in the state of Wisconsin. Created in 1973 by the Wisconsin Legislature, WHEFA acts as a conduit issuer of tax-exempt revenue bonds for non-profit organizations in the state. This means that WHEFA issues bonds on behalf of non-profit organizations, which enables them to access tax-exempt financing.
Over the past 42 years, WHEFA has issued tax-exempt revenue bonds for over 900 financings, totaling over $30 billion. By enabling non-profit organizations to access tax-exempt financing, WHEFA helps them to build, improve, and maintain critical health and educational facilities that serve the people of Wisconsin. This includes hospitals, nursing homes, charter schools, and universities, among others.
